Dr Meiring supervises students doing the MPhil in Palliative Medicine at UCT. There are currently 5 students conducting research towards fulfilment of this degree. The students are based in Pretoria, Bloemfontein, Durban, Malawi and London.

Dr Meiring is pursuing a PhD in Paediatrics. The title of her research is: How integrated is Paediatric Palliative Care in Public Health care in South Africa and why does this matter. She was awarded and Academic Fellowship Award by Discovery Health in 2014 towards fulfillment of this degree.
